Collection: Emily Doran

Emily makes handmade pottery with a rustic coastal aesthetic. Every piece is carefully crafted on the pottery wheel and fired in her garden studio in East Sussex. Inspired by a love of the coast and sea, her contemporary tableware is available in a range of glazes named after the seascapes they evoke, from Calm Waters to Misty Lagoon. She works with a flecked stoneware clay that is a pleasure to throw and creates a distinctive speckled finish, with the clay body subtly showing through the glaze after firing.

Working in intentionally small batches, she creates pottery that stands in contrast to mass-produced factory tableware. Committed to craftsmanship and traditional skills, she makes each piece slowly and with care. Mug handles are hand-pulled and individually attached, bowls are turned on the pottery wheel, and every item is dipped by hand into buckets of unique, homemade glazes.

Her tableware is tactile and celebrates its handmade nature, with visible traces of the making process left intentionally on each piece — from throwing rings inside a mug to the gentle finger ridges on a pulled handle. These details reflect the authenticity, skill, and individuality at the heart of her work.
