Collection: Andrew Tozer: Colours of the Sun

We are absolutely to delighted to present our first solo show of the year, Andrew Tozer: Colours of the Sun. This collection, drenched in colours inspired by the fleeting Cornish sun is a tonic for the soul.

When approaching this body of work, Tozer knew he wanted to 'have fun with it'. The idea was simple, produce paintings that celebrate Cornwall, and really enjoy the process! Returning to acrylic for the majority of the work gave him the opportunity to layer paint quickly, and really build texture. This can be seen in details like the blossom in the trees in the largest piece, 'Colours of Spring'.

Locations captured include, St. Mawes, Coverack, Daymer Bay, his beloved Helford Passage and his own back garden. When talking about the show with Andrew you can hear his genuine elation with the result of his hard work. We feel privileged to be housing them, until these incredible paintings find new homes.

Andrew explains, “I want each piece to have a ‘wow’ factor - to make paintings that look glorious, drenched in colour and that are essentially fun and exciting to produce. I really feel that it is my role and duty as an artist to have as much fun, satisfaction and sense of wonderment as possible with my practice and to transmit this to others; I want the process to be joyful rather than dutiful and to do this I have to keep on following wherever my inspiration is”.

“I want to exhaust all possibilities within my art and not in thirty years think that I stopped myself from exploring certain avenues. I owe it to myself and mycollectors to produce the best work that I am capable of and to work at it with all my heart. When I allow myself that creative freedom my paintings go to the next level”.

The exhibition runs from 3rd - 16th April.
