Collection: Sarah Wimperis

Sarah Wimperis is a contemporary figurative painter based in Cornwall. She studied Fine Art at Falmouth School of Art, graduating with a degree in sculpture. She works primarily in oils and watercolour and paints predominantly en plein air, developing larger studio works from on-site studies.

Wimperis’ practice focuses on observational subjects, including domestic interiors, markets, gardens and scenes encountered through travel. She maintains a strong drawing practice and works both from life and from sketchbook studies gathered in Cornwall and abroad. Her painting trips have included China, Russia, Israel and Norway, and she has previously lived and taught art in Norway and France.

Alongside her exhibiting practice, she has worked as an illustrator for organisations including the BBC and the National Trust, established a mural company in Cornwall, and held roles within galleries as a manager. She was the only English artist/animator to contribute to the feature film Loving Vincent and also works with Artlook Software as Client Support and Artist Ambassador.
