Collection: Charlotte Jones

Inspired and energised by my surroundings, I live in an 1836 granite chapel, high above Falmouth Bay. After graduating from Falmouth with a Studio Ceramic degree in 2001, the vastry became my workshop, now I work in a purpose built studio in the garden. 

My pots are made from Cornish white stoneware clay coloured by small amounts of clay I find, rust, grog from streams and oxides. Coloured clays are used a three-dimensional collage material: coloured layers define, contrast and merge. Pot bases are thrown, coils added, pinched and scraped into an organic vessel. The pots are burnished with a pebble when leather-hard before high firing, to echo time-weathered rocks and tactile stones smoothed by surf.
