Collection: Andrew Knee

Andrew works in stoneware, producing a range of functional items and also larger individual pieces. He is currently obsessed with tsubo’ ; thrown jars either made in one piece or, for the larger sizes, thrown in two pieces and joined.

Pots are splashed and poured or daubed with oxides, engobes and silica carbide to create textures and surfaces which are unpredictable and unique. After graduation, Andrew gravitated towards London where he met Lisa Hammond, helping her to set up her first Greenwich studio and training in production throwing.

In the 1980’s Andrew spent 5 years in Shizuoka, Japan. Writing and travelling and spending most weekends training and working with a local potter, he developed a deep respect for Japanese craftsmanship and its close relationship with the natural world.

He lives and works in South London.
