Johnty’s work has already enjoyed tremendous success during his first year with us, establishing him as an exciting emerging voice in contemporary painting. His work invites us to pause and look closely, finding richness, mood and beauty in the familiar. Working across still life and landscape, Johnty combines traditional training with a contemporary approach. Inspired by the Cornish landscape and everyday objects, his work focuses on observation, light, atmosphere and tone. Classically trained at the London Fine Art Studios Atelier, where he later taught, Johnty was awarded two scholarships by the De Laszlo Foundation. In 2025, he received the Winsor & Newton Young Artist Award at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters’ Annual Exhibition.
